Camped Part 3

Final chapter of Camped (I'm not gonna write part 4 simply coz the 4th day was too short a day to be considered in writing another post; I'm just gonna combine it with day 3. :) ) Gonna try to post this quick...my memory isn't famous for remembering things.

The night/morning of the 2nd/3rd day. Benjamin, Vijay and me stayed up till 2.45 a.m doing our PoA homework. We were sleeping in the canteen and the SLs (Student Leaders) had pulled benches together for us to sleep on. Qi Yuan, as USUAL, started to occupy both his own and Fin's sleeping spot (Fin had come and sit beside us). Dillion was pushing the others, making more space for himself, in his sleep. We weren't paying attention to them much except for a few occassion glances towards their direction. On one of my occassional glances, I noticed Damian turning to his side and gripping onto Asyraf, using him as a bolster. However, he lost grip of Asyraf and his hands went sliding off him, touching or rather 'feeling' Asyraf's sensitive area as his hand went sliding down. You can really see all the weird things people do in their sleep that you can never imagine. Seriously...

Ok, the third day was the climb to see the waterfall. Pretty much everyone was looking forward to reaching the waterfall due to the rumors spreaded by teachers and instructors about how clear/sweet the water at the waterfall was.

"Wah, I tell you...the water damn cold...but damn refreshing la! The water damn fresh also...can drink one! Drink already also damn shiok!", Vijay told me with his face showing genuine delight at the water. Somehow, it looked like he was trying to deceive me and I started to get wary of Vijay's words. 'How trustworthy is Vijay?', I thought to myself,'His standard of 'fresh' water may be of the same standard of water from the drains for all I know...'

Well, turned out Vijay didn't try to bluff me. The water was very, very clear. You could even see from the stream by the side of the path a distinctive 'line' in the waters. On one side of the 'line', the water was brown, obviously due to the mud and all, however, on the other side, the water was light blue. And weirdly enough, the 'two' waters didn't 'blend'. One of the small wonders of Nature I guess?

On the way up, the sky seemed clear and it looked like we could finally enjoy a day without being completely wet. However, the higher we climbed, the darker the clouds became and it became increasingly evident that it would definitely rain. Some of the student campers started to become pessimistic on whether they could reach the waterfall; the dark clouds meant that some of us wouldn't be able to reach the waterfall. Why? There was only 1 way up the waterfall and it was through a valley. If there was too much rainfall, the valley would be filled with water and the current would be too strong and unsafe for the students to cross.

On the ascend to the waterfall, I realised that one of the instructor's nickname was Fin (funny coincidence, huh, Ariffin? :P). While waiting at the foot of the valley for the others, some students were having a wild time splashing the freezing water at each other.
Suddenly, Fin shouted,"Stop playing! I'll KILL YOU!"
Damn, that made me laugh hysterically (nah...just kidding...I was only smiling :S). He reminded me of Achmed the Dead Terrorist. If you dunno who that is, I suggest you search 'Achmed' on Youtube. You won't regret it ;)

Anyways, I was climbing the rocks up to the valley when suddenly an instructor shouted that it was unsafe to continue. I silently cursed under my breath. I mean, what the fish man? So close to the waterfall yet so far to it too. I swear, I could see the waterfall from where I was standing. Wait - maybe I'd seen wrong; its impossible for me to see so far. -.-

We started to make the slow descend down. However, the current was too strong and I stayed behind to help the others cross the river. I stood in the increasingly strong currents with Mr. Phoon and Mr. Liu, helping the student campers and teachers to cross, while I myself had difficulties balancing in the water. Seeing a whole group of students with lollipops in their mouth, Mr. Liu shouted and demanded one too and soon, a lollipop found its way into Mr. Liu's hands and my hands. Being 'anxious' to get the lollipop into his mouth, Mr. Liu hurriedly open the wrapper. However, in his hastiness, he dropped the wrapper, together with the lollipop, into the water and it flowed away.
"Nooo~! My lollipop! Shit la! Too kanchiong (meaning too rushed in Hokkien) just now la! Wasted!", Mr Liu. cried out in dismay. I couldn't help laughing. But after that, Mr. Liu and I became friends...well, sorta...

Anyways, nothing much happened after that. Well, except the part where all the SLs bunked into Mr. Foo's room. Mr. Foo was going to town with a few other teachers to watch the Inter Milan v.s Liverpool match and was generous enough to let us sleep in his AIR-CONDITIONED room (WOO~). The room was pretty small and was rather bare. However, despite the fact that there was no TV, everyone was happy; at least we didn't need to suffer like our sec 3 campers. In the end, when everyone took their sleeping spots, there was no more space to move. Thus, more wierd poses and all. Asyraf had his head on Kenrick's back and his feet on Dillion at one point in the night and Qi Yuan started to hug the bed despite the fact that he was lying on the floor. He even started to get me worried when he snored like he couldn't breathe in enough oxygen. We all woke up an hour late in the morning and had to bare the embarrassment of the stares from the sec 3s when we approached the canteen. Other than that nothing much happened...and we all HAPPILY (lemme emphasis the word 'HAPPILY') went back home.

Oh yeah, except the part when I was cleaning the toliet. I saw this pile of shit in the 'WC' (water closet :P Old-school word!) with like an army of flies on it. Without thinking, I turned on the tab and splashed water on the pile of shit. To my utter horror, the flies started to fly towards me and I quickly ran out of the toliet. Typical 78, huh?...

And another thing. I found out that the sec 3s are a bunch of fishermen (if you know what I'm trying to say...). They love to bully the ugly, or rather, the 'weirdos'. I kept thinking during the camp if I was like them some point at my time. If I was so brainless and selfish like them. Theres this sec 3 guy called Kenny. Kenny is a person that you would probably detest once you see him. It isn't his fault but he doesn't have a handsome face and he speaks too quickly for others to understand him easily. He also get paranoid easily and would scold vulgarities at people if he think they were about to disturb him. Because of this, he has been the target of bullying in my school, especially by the sec 3s. I could see also that some people were using him to become popular. These fishermen made fun of him and shouted painful words at him just for the others to like them more. I couldn't stand the abuse he was getting anymore at the camp, especially on the third day, yet, I wasn't able to help him. There was only 1 of me and hundreds of sec 3 students. Kenny even cried yet those sec 3s didn't stop and sympathise him. They didn't even feel a 'drop' of guilt or regret. They just kept poking fun at him and laughing at him. Sometimes I really think the world isn't fair. The bullies don't get their retributions and the bullied remains bullied. No wonder the Virginia Tech shootings occurred. Sometimes, the bullied may not be able to stand it anymore and do something everyone will regret and remember. I really wonder how much of this abuse Kenny can take anymore...will he crack one day? No one knows...

Signing Off...
