Couldn't sleep the night before the sec 3 camp. I had difficulties sleeping and could finally only sleep at 2 plus in the morning. Got up at 5.30 (Can't really remember the time; but it was some time around that). Bathed and brushed my teeth. Got into my father's car and headed to school. In fact, I was the earliest Student Leader (SL) there! Mr. Foo had said that he would be in school at 6.40 but we didn't see him there at 6.50 so some people, like Damian *ah hem* :S, started to bad mouth Mr. Foo. Then, we heard Mr. Foo on the announcer (whatever its called...) and they started to keep quiet (aha! :S). Mr. Foo had said that those SLs who arrived later than 6.40 would be sent home. But in the end, Kenrick and Qi Yuan arrived at around 6.50 and didn't get it. In fact, Qi Yuan arrived in a taxi with his sunglasses on his hair like he was going on a holiday in Hawaii. Speaking of Hawaii, some teachers arrived, pulling their luggage as though they were going on a holiday. And although theres the saying 'Looks can be deceiving', this time it didn't applied. What we saw was what was gonna happen. You will know soon enough.
I got attached to 3E3 and Mr. Low and was pretty glad coz it wasn't a Normal Academic or Normal Technical class (I didn't know anyone in NA or NT) and was with a teacher I know but I'd soon started wishing I was attached to another class. On the way to the Woodlands checkpoint, the class was making hell of a noise in the bus. The only lucky thing was Asyraf and Vijay were with me in the bus. But even they couldn't stand the noise they were making. The thought that I had to stand their noise for the next 3 days had me shuddering. Heres recordings of us talking in the bus. You can hear the hell the class was breaking loose in the background, or rather, in the foreground. Asyraf tried to imitate a Tigbit in the first recording but...nice try man, you didn't really make it. :S
Oh and by the way, Vijay was stinking the whole bus up; Swear I almost fainted there. :S The tin of biscuits which was suppose to be there for EMERGENCY PURPOSES got finished up in the bus, leaving me wordless yet unable to scold them coz I didn't really know them (I wasn't even introduced to the class) and I too took some biscuits. :P Actually, it was Vijay who took 4 packs of biscuits which the 3 of us (Asyraf, Vijay and me) shared. Vijay was delighted when he discovered that one of the packs were oreos but when I examined the biscuit closely, it made me laugh. Written on the biscuit was: STEREO. Reminds you of a cheap rip-off, huh?

And I realised on the bus, Vijay loves people to take photo of him and is rather photogenic. :P See for yourself below.

Isn't he photogenic? :P Anyways, we arrived at Kota Tinggi around 12.40 and had lunch in the canteen. This was when I realised I had forgot to bring my plate and utensils. Shit! This meant that I had to borrow utensils for every meal and that I had to bare looking at the others eating while waiting for someone to lend me his utensils. And for 4 days! Amazing how I survived those 4 days really...
The sec 3s were divided into 2 sections, Section 1 consisted of 3E1-3E4 while Section 2 consisted of 3E5-3T1. There were 14 SLs, yet only Benjamin, my brother, and me were posted to Section 1. The other 12 SLs were posted to Section 2. I have no idea how they posted the SLs but I felt the whole thing was rather disorganised. The SLs were not brief on what was going to happen. The SLs were not spreaded properly. And there were no ice breaker games for the groups to know their classmates and the SLs better. -___- Oh and did I mention, most of the retainees had come for the sec 3 camp. Rather surprised to see Wan Hwa, Jun Yuan, Alson and Ernest there.
For section 1, the activites were mostly based in camp and were what you called team bonding games. Like the tyre which was held vertically and in which all the students had to go through within a certain amount of time. I really enjoyed the river cascading though. Although, I was too shy to take the tube and ride down the stream, I enjoyed lying in the cold and sandy waters. :P My L.O.S.T camp shirt's white sides were turned brown by the water, same goes for my white pants. Speaking of which, I just realised when I arrived home yesterday, I left behind these 2 clothing at the campsite. Damn! My favourite camp shirt... :(
Oh and the weather was disastrous. The rain went on and off. Everytime it started raining heavily, we headed for the shelter and it would stop raining. Yet when we headed out again for the activites we'd stopped, it started raining heavily again. It was like the weather was toying with us. After all the activites, I was left with soggy, soggy feet.

Pretty disgusting, huh? The activities in the camp were very water-based. If your feets didn't have blisters or weren't soggy, it would be a miracle...That was pretty much the first day really (I'll write more about the first day's activities another day, when I'm not so tired). Heres a picture of our sleeping environment.

Oh and at night, we had a nightwalk. According to the instructors, the nightwalk was to be done one by one and was to help in overcoming fear of darkness. They also said that on the way back, you will be at 'war' and would have to evade the 'guns' of the sentries and reach a checkpoint without getting caught. The prisoner-of-wars would be 'tortured'. I wasn't really worried about the nightwalk though, only the way back. I'm not well known for my evading abilities and besides, after that day in camp, I was pretty sure the instructors were capable of making us do all sorts of things.
We were given a number before the walk which we had to remember and give to the instructor at the destination. My number was 38. Pretty ironic. 39 x 2 = 78. While waiting for my turn to do the nightwalk, the guy behind me had a huge urge to urine and he peed onto the path. The quene started to move forward and we were told to squat down. The person behind the guy who peed squat down and landed his bum down on the puddle of urine. Sick!
Anyways, this is what happened at the starting point when it was my turn.
Instructor: Number?
Me: ...38
Instructor (at the others behind me): Squat down!
Instructor (after a while): Number?
Me: ...38
Me (noticing the instructor appearing to stare at me): ...what?
Instructor: What?
Me: ... (ok, he wasn't staring at me...)
Yet again, my blindness struck me. Pretty embarrassing then... the nightwalk was pretty long. Didn't expect it to be so long and I was worried for a moment, then on the walk, that I was lost. However, just when I was starting to panic, I looked left and I saw a group of ghostly figures on the floor. Apparently, I had already reached my destination and the ghostly figures were the others who already done the walk.
After everyone reached the destination, groups were slowly dispatched for the way back. It was finally my turn and the instructor said,"Good luck. May the force be with you..."
This made me assumed that the game had started. Our group slowly made its way back through the path we had went through earlier on the nightwalk. Suddenly, there was a shine (forgot to mention the 'guns' were actually torchlights and if your face were shined, you would be considered to be caught) and everyone squat down with their face covered. After several moments, the light was still shining at us and we heard the people holding the torches say,"Eh? Why they not moving ah?"
That was when we realised it was the instructors and the game hadn't really started. So we continued down the path. Suddenly, we saw a shine again and everyone squat down again with their faces covered. This time it was Mr. Liu trying to scare us. He was the gamekeeper and was suppose to announce the start of the game to us.
Eventually, the game started. Everyone moved rather cautiously, afraid of getting caught. However, one idiot (the SAME idiot who urinated on the path) ran forward. He rolled on the floor aiming for the barrel on the left but somehow, he overshot and went past the barrel. A teacher (the sentries were actually teachers) was hiding behind that particular barrel and when the guy went past the barrel, the teacher got up and immediately shrone the light on the guy's face. Smart move, man, smart move...
But after the game, I felt energise and didn't feel tired anymore. Which probably explains why I couldn't sleep that night. But in the end, the 'torture' was only a stupid warm-up exercise and I got all worked up coz I thought that it was an actual torture and I was actually worried about getting caught. The only consolation I felt was that at least my tent had only 3 people sleeping in it, unlike the other tents with 6 people in them.
Thats pretty much what happened on the first day. Fin, Soshi and me went out today to Vivocity but due to how long I have been typing this post out, I'll write about today some other day. UNLESS, 87 or 96 helps me write about that...
Cheers!
