Ok, maybe I admit the drawing didn't look too good. But hey! I took like a minute to draw it! Maybe shading it wasn't a good idea...Anyways, on the way out, I realised someone had vandalised the bears.
Liked the blue bear better now though. More personality! xD
Brace yourself I say! This is gonna be 1 heck of a post (in length I mean). The longest post in 968778 history. Man, day 2 was such a short, short day. And it was way, way better than day 1. Well, except for the weather. The rain was worse now and I could not see, through the mist, the car-shaped peak of the mountain that was so, so distinctive on the first day. But then again, I reckon the first day of every camp is almost always the worst day. Just the thought of kissing your teddy bears and beds goodbye for the next few days just cause of some stupid camp would make anyone depressed. :S
Ok, some bad news folks. There won't be photos for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th day of the camp. Why? 1. I use my phone to take photos and if I lose it in camp, I'm pretty much screwed. 2. It was raining cats and dogs and I wasn't sure if my phone was waterproof. 3. My phone's battery was almost flat. 4. Nothing to take photo of. The photogenic Vijay was in the other Section.
The 2nd day was basically the hike up a mountain. I've forgotten the name of the mountain but I'm post the name of the mountain when I remember it. Mr. Low was missing on the first day of camp and he suddenly appears on the 2nd day. -____- And he and Mr. Liu HAD to mention their resort room, their air-con and their food. I swear...zzz...never mind...
The start of the hike wasn't very tough. The only thing was my heavy bag. We were gonna camp up there in the mountains and I didn't bother to leave my extra clothings and stuff in the tents. It wouldn't have been too hard if I was carrying my school bag on the hike. But I was carrying a sling bag. Just imagine the pain my poor, poor shoulder had to suffer. After the hike, my left shoulder was all sore. -.- It didn't rain too much at the start of the hike and the path we were using wasn't too steep yet. However, the further we went up into the mountain, the heavier the rain fell and the more steep our path got. Soon, we had to go on all fours to prevent ourselves from falling. After maybe 45 minutes of hiking, we reached our campsite in the rainforest. Most of the tents were already set up by Section 2 (they climbed the mountain on day 1 and went back on day 2 to the campsite). We put our bags into the tents and waited for the rest to arrive. By this time, it was raining like mad. I was wearing a rainjacket and even with it, I was drenched. While waiting for the others to settle, Mr. Low approached me:
Mr. Low: ***** (sensoring my name :P), would you like to eat bananas? ...Would you like to eat MY bananas?
Me: ...I don't think...rainforest got bananas...
Mr. Low: Got loh. If I can find how?
Me: Good loh...
Random question by Mr. Low. Caught me off guard then. But I soon realised what he really meant later.
After everyone had arrived, we were led higher up the mountain. The instructors had planned to reach the mountain's summit by dusk and we were kinda behind time. However, the rain was really disastrous. So, for our safety, a few instructors scouted ahead to check if it was safe to carry on. By now, it was impossible to stand up straight and walk. The rain had caused the ground to loosen and if you were not careful, you may very well be bouncing down the mountain, heading towards your death. While waiting for the instructors, I suddenly saw Mr. Low take a banana from his pouch. I finally realised what he meant by his bananas. It was really HIS bananas...just...he likes, or rather, LOVES to poke fun at his students by scaring them by his voice tone. He passed the banana down the group and everyone had a small share of his bananas. Amazing, 1 banana 15 students. Despite the terrible weather, Mr. Low still had the mood to joke and all. He took the banana skin and put it on the floor between me and him. Then he called me to come, laughing and saying out loud,"Aiyah! Why you never step on the banana skin and fall?"
Most of the students were tired by then and some were panting heavily. Suddenly, Mr. Low spotted a towel on the ground and picked it up. He raised it in front of us and said,"Aiyah, you all useless one sia! Sec 3 already cannot climb a stupid mountain. See, even Xinhua primary school students climbed this mountain before ah!" On the towel were the words: 'Xinhua Primary School (I think it is Xinhua...can't really remember now...) Children's Day 2003' Now I was wordless but somehow still able to defend the group. Hey, when they hiked the mountain, it wasn't raining as heavily and the ground wasn't as unstable, ok!
Suddenly, out of the blue, Mr. Low called me away from the group and started a talk with me.
Mr. Low: Hey **** (sensoring again :P), what CCA are you in?
Me: Golf.
Mr. Low: Huh? You? Golf ah?
Me: Actually, its my father who ask me join one la.
Mr. Low: Then, if you had a choice, what CCA would you be in?
Me: Ermm...maybe Uniform Group?
Mr. Low: Yea. I can see some qualities in you.
Wow. Never knew I had qualities. Amazing how different my perception of myself and other people's perception of me is...
After awhile, the instructors came back and decided that it wasn't safe for us to continue hiking and that we should head back to camp. After everyone heard that we were heading back to camp, there were shouts of joy here and there. I guess everyone was thinking the same thing. 'YES~! WE NOT SLEEPING HERE!'
We dismantled the tents and started our descend of the mountain. My stupid group decided to go ahead, leaving me and Ryan were dismantling the tent and putting the dismantled pieces into the bag. Even better, we were suppose to share the load of the tent and yet I carried it all the way from the rainforest back to camp. My bag plus the extra load of the tent almost made me fall a couple of times and for a few brief moments, I was thinking if I could survive this descend. Then, I thought about Mat. As clumsy as he was, he still managed to made it down to camp in one piece. I was now determined to climb down the mountain. :P And indeed, I made it. :D
We made it safely to camp and had our meals. My foot hurt like hell and it was extremely, extremely soggy. The mud on the grounf at the campsite was also extremely irritating, especially if you were wearing slippers. Every time you stepped on the ground, your foot gets stuck into the mud and you need at least a few seconds to get it out again. This happened with much frustrating frequency.
The SLs decided to camp together in the canteen for the night. Benjamin, Vijay and me decided to do a bit of the PoA homework before sleeping. But before that, we had to make rounds and make sure the student campers were sleeping quietly (meaning they are not talking when they are suppose to sleep!). It was rather fun making the rounds. The only thing was each time I pass by Wan Hwa's tent, he would shine his torch at my face. Irritating bugger. :S I'll leave the incidents that happened at night to Part 3, simply because it was past midnight and so its considered the 3rd day! :S But trust me. Its dead hilarious. Stay Tune to Camped. Part 3.
Cheers!
